Man Utd complete another summer transfer as Red Devils issue statement Manchester United have confirmed the departure of a young winger. Manchester United have announced the sale of young winger Ethan Williams, who has joined Peterborough United for a "sizeable undisclosed fee". The 20-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan at Falkirk and featured in pre-season with the United first team this summer, making appearancees against Wrexham, Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid. Williams has left United in a bid to launch his professional career in the lower leagues. Peterborough finished in the bottom half of League One last season, but they will be aiming to mount a play-off push in the upcoming campaign. Responding to the transfer, Williams said: "The identity of this club is clear, they like to work with younger players and when I heard of the interest, it was a move that I wanted to make. "I have been out on loan at a couple of clubs, have gained a lot of experience in men's football and felt it was the right time to leave United and sign for Peterborough. "I have enjoyed my time at United and it's always tough to leave a place like that, but there comes a time in your career where you have to make tough decisions to develop yourself and Peterborough is renowned for helping younger players." Peterborough manager Luke Williams added: "Ethan is a player that will give us another option in the wide areas, he is quick, direct and will be a threat and I am looking forward to working with him. They said: "Academy forward Ethan Wiliams has agreed a move to League One side Peterborough United, subject to registration. "The 20-year-old played an important role in our Under-18s' success during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring seven times in 11 U18 Premier League games as the Reds claimed both the northern and national titles, as well as the Premier League Cup. "He now joins Luke Williams’ squad ahead of The Posh’s first league game of the season, away to Bradford City on Saturday.
