The Ibrox recruitment team has narrowed its search. AEK Athens’ James Penrice and Southampton’s Jayden Meghoma are two of the options. They are working on various options and are expected to push the button on one over the next 24 hours. Rangers have had to move after Tuur Rommens suffered an injury at the weekend, which will keep him out for four to eight weeks. Penrice is the preferred option if they can agree a loan, although AEK’s initial preference was to sell. Talks with AEK are ongoing. Meghoma was previously at Rangers last season on loan. - Clinton Nsiala has turned down a move to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Rangers defender was subject of an approach from the Israel club. The 22-year-old is still expected to leave Ibrox this summer. He has interest in England and would also be open to interest from France and Belgium. - Celtic will ramp up their own transfer activity. Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur is at Lennoxtown to finalise his £6.8million move. Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo is also in Glasgow. He did his medical yesterday and is expected to join on a season-long loan. Winger Haissem Hassan checked in last night from Real Oviedo. They will also advance their interest in Hajduk Split’s Niko Sigur, while West Ham United remain in hot pursuit of Arne Engels. - Esbjerg want to sign Dundee United’s Julius Eskesen. The Danish Second Division side are prepared to offer a long-term deal to get him out of United. Esbjerg boss Sancheev Manoharan is a big fan of the Dane. They worked together previously at Norwegian side Haugesund. The 27-year-old hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped at United. It remains to be seen if Eskesen would be keen to return to his homeland at this stage. - Dundee will make another bid to land Bromley captain Omar Sowunmi. The Dark Blues had a £100,000 bid turned down earlier this week. They will try again with an improved bid. Head coach Steven Pressley is keen to bring in another central defender with Owen Bevan and Ryan Astley his only two fit options. Dundee also have Matai Akinmboni on trial from Bournemouth. Pressley is looking at him with a view to a season-long loan. - Aberdeen striker Peter Ambrose has knocked back a move to Maccabi Petah Tikva The striker has been surplus requirements with the Dons for some time. The Nigerian is in the final year of his contract. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Diosgyori VTK. The 24-year-old has struggled in his two years at Pittodrie. - Arbroath are keen on a loan for Keith Bray. Dunfermline Athletic are considering whether or not to let their midfielder go out. The Pars signed the 20-year-old from Inverness last year. They have high hopes for him. The chance to get more regular game time with the Red Lichties is something that could be beneficial. - Aberdeen are considering a loan move for Jamie Mercer. The 18-year-old defender is returning from injury. The Dons have high hopes for him and Cove Rangers is one of those options. Aberdeen has a cooperation loan with their city rivals.
