Hibernian manager David Gray has responded to the latest speculation surrounding Miguel Chaiwa as interest continues to build around the midfielder. Speaking to the Daily Record, Gray said Hibs are well aware that strong performances can lead to interest in their players, especially while the transfer window remains open. He said: “I think speaking to players happens every day, anyway. And, whilst that window is open, if players are playing well and with some of what you would deem assets in the squad, you have to be ready for that. “We’re not naive to think that [when] young players are performing well at a very high level, playing on the biggest stage in Europe certainly adds to that. “But every single player has got a value and, until that’s met or the club decides it’s right for everybody involved, the players are fully focused on playing.” That line is particularly relevant to Chaiwa’s situation, with Hibs continuing to hold a strong position over the 22-year-old while interest grows. Gray also made clear that the current squad remains fully focused on upcoming matches rather than outside transfer talk. He added: “That’s what I would say is that everybody that’s in the group at the moment, our only mindset is feeling good about Sunday, taking that into Thursday night. And I think that’s the most important thing, that the players are fully focused on what we’re facing tomorrow night. “As soon as that whistle went at Ibrox, you enjoy it for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, the relief kicks in and then it’s straight onto watching back leg one, preparing the players, getting them recovered as quick as we can for Thursday night. That’s all my focus has been on and understandably so. “So all the conversations I’ve had at this moment in time have been with the players that are in the building and available to be used.” For Celtic, that means any renewed move would still require a serious offer before Hibs consider doing business.
