Rangers sent bulging five-man transfer shopping list as 'priority' mission and need for speed made clear Rangers still have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer market. A former Rangers star have been sent a bulging shopping list after another bad night at Ibrox. Boss Derek McInnes does not have issues to seek as he still needs several new signings after losing striker Youssef Chermiti and left-back Tuur Rommens to injury. Rangers haven’t won any of their first four games under the ex-Light Blues star after a summer already filled with several new players. Ex-striker Steven Thompson covered the Europa League third round qualifier exit to Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok and listed centre-back, left-back, right-back, striker and attacking midfield as options that all have to be on the radar. Players may also need to leave to make that happen. Who else do Rangers need to sign this summer transfer window? Thompson said on Sportsound: “I think left back's a priority without a shadow of a doubt. It depends how quickly he thinks he can get Ben Godfrey back from injury, but how fit is Godfrey going to be to play a season as well? So he's probably looking centre-half, left-back, I think right-back as well. You know, we mentioned it last week, but the right back’s at the club,. “It's a big downgrade from what was here previously. I think a midfielder, an attacking midfielder who's got vision. Who's got creativity, who's got goals, who's got ability to unlock defences and I think, yeah, now I think you're looking at a striker. ”When it comes to looking at a striker, obviously, Derek had big hopes for Youssef Chermiti this season. Was he the finished article? Maybe not. You know, we might have been watching Chermiti here tonight, would he have made a huge difference? It's difficult to say but Ryan Naderi, jury is massively out. Bojan Miovski’s probably not fancied. I think they need pace. I think they need somebody who can run in behind with real, real pace. Do Rangers need a striker? “You’d like to think they've got that kind of cutthroat ruthlessness in Lawrence Shankland. But at this minute in time, things aren't falling for him. I'm sure over the course of this season, things will fall into place with Lawrence when he gets used to the environment and when the team are playing the way that Derek wants him to play and all the players that he wants to fit into the jigsaw puzzle are playing. “When that's going to be is the big question. But I do feel as though they need somebody with a wee bit of pace. Daisuke Yokota and Djeidi Gassama, if he's going to use him but Gassama, can you count him over the course of a season? Very inconsistent. As good as he was tonight in the first half. So it's quite a few positions when you strip it back and look at it, but they probably need to be recruiting. And the issue is the squad's already quite big, isn't it? They are probably going to have to move out and three or four players, which is easier said than done.”
