Despite a slow first few weeks of the summer transfer window, Leicester City are finally being active. Conor Chaplin and Tommy Watson are among the names to have already signed; a positive move given their recent experience in the Championship and Premier League. The outgoings have also been strong with the likes of Harry Winks, Jannik Vestergaard and Abdul Fatawu off the books. However, City aren’t done yet, as they are now closing on two more additions. Leicester Set to Sign New Duo Medical on the way Over the past few days, several names have been linked with moves to Leicester. One of which is Bosnian striker Admir Bristic, who is now set to arrive from Olimpija Ljubljana. Mike McGrath and John Percy report that as part of Leicester’s ‘active’ transfer window, Bristic is set to make the move to the King Power Stadium. They also covered the news that Wes Burns is expected to undergo a medical; he trades Ipswich for Leicester. He has represented Bosnia’s youth teams in the past, whilst last season he managed 14 goal contributions in 24 games for Slovenian side NK Bravo. The 23-year-old is also set to become the third Bosnian-born player to feature for Leicester, thus following in the footsteps of Eldin Jakupovic and Asmir Begovic. Meanwhile, Burns joins after playing a minor part in Ipswich’s promotion to the Premier League. He started just nine times last season, though he was crucial in building the foundations of this Ipswich success. Last time in League One, he managed 19 goal contributions, which bodes well for this upcoming campaign. Like his former teammate Chaplin, both thrived in the third tier and were pivotal towards the Tractor Boys’ promotion; will history repeat itself? How does this affect Leicester? After an unambitious summer transfer window last year, it’s good to see the Foxes now showing more intent. Russell Martin needed to be backed, and it seems like he’s now finding the right profiles. Liam Cullen, a player he worked with at Swansea, recently arrived, whilst loanees like Christian McFarlane and Watson could make a difference. Mixing these signings with the players City already have could be a dominant formula. Whether they move on or play a part isn’t confirmed yet, but it’s still evident that the squad to work with is more than good enough to get out of this league. In terms of likely signings, Burns offers a wealth of experience and adds depth on the right-hand side. Meanwhile, Bristic slots in at centre-forward, which was desperately needed after a void was left last season. It’s certainly an unknown as to how good he can be at this level, but with so much quality in those creative areas, he should get plenty of chances this season.
