Long-term fitness was not deemed an issue but Rangers are said to have taken issue with his short-term availability as they target stars who can make an impact now amid a four-game winless start to this season. Why did Rangers deal for Couhaib Driouech collapse? A report from Eindhovens Dagblad read: “Everything seemed to be all set, yet the transfer of PSV forward Couhaib Driouech to Rangers FC fell through on Friday. He had already visited the Scottish club's stadium on Thursday, but a disagreement arose between the clubs and the player. Scottish sources report that Driouech might be unavailable for a short period and that a major dispute has arisen over this issue. This marks the fourth time in five months that a PSV transfer has collapsed. “After 48 turbulent hours, he is heading home disillusioned. He had headed to England on Tuesday full of optimism. Everything seemed set. PSV had a deal with Rangers, and theoretically, only the medical examination could still derail the move. He underwent the medical in Manchester and was cleared as fit for the long term; that was not the issue at all. “Nevertheless, a disagreement arose between the two parties. PSV maintained that he could play in the short term, whereas Rangers FC took the view that he was not immediately available for selection. The final decision came from the club owner, after directors Gretar Steinsson and Dan Purdy had reached an agreement with PSV.” PSV on failed Rangers transfer deal PSV boss Peter Bosz said of the situation: “Of course that was a surprise. The clubs had reached an agreement. I thought everything was settled. But I heard it right after training. When it comes to transfers, you have to ask Earnest (Stewart, technical director). We need to get him back on his feet in a very short time, but that won't be possible before tomorrow. “I haven't had any further contact with him, so I don't know when he will be back.
