Couhaib Driouech ‘disillusioned' after collapse of Rangers move as PSV speak out Rangers pulled plug on £7m deal over injury issue PSV claim they are getting back a “disillusioned player” after Rangers’ proposed signing of winger Couhaib Driouech fell through. The 24-year-old Moroccan was set to become the Govan club’s 10th summer signing after a £7million deal was agreed. Driouech watched on at Ibrox on Thursday night as Rangers were consigned to the Conference League play-offs by Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok, who won their Europa League qualifier 3-2 on aggregate. It is understood Rangers pulled the plug on the deal after his medical in order to focus on players who can immediately contribute to the team. However, PSV technical director Earnest Stewart revealed Driouech is “deeply upset” after the chance to move to Glasgow did not materialise. Quoted in the Dutch media, Stewart said: “I don’t understand it. He went there with a minor injury. “They are making this decision based on immediate availability, whereas it was a four-year contract. It is a minor injury; surely you can still enjoy someone for 200 weeks after that? “They estimate the period he will be unable to play to be much longer than we do. From what I understood, six weeks. So we think it is considerably shorter. “Couhaib is deeply upset by it. It is very unfortunate. He was left in uncertainty for 48 hours. We are now getting a disillusioned player back. That is not nice. The development came as a surprise to PSV head coach Peter Bosz, who stated that Driouech would not be involved in his team’s game against Excelsior on Sunday but would be back in his squad as soon as possible. “Of course that was a surprise,” said Bosz at a press conference, quoted by Voetbal International. “The clubs had reached an agreement. I thought everything was settled. “I haven’t had any further contact with him, so I don’t know when he will be back. In a situation like this, you sit down with him, talk and listen. “In any case, my message is that he is one of my players again, that we have to win matches together, and I need his help with that too. “I understand very well that it is a huge disappointment. That is allowed, I get that, but it has to go away, and preferably as soon as possible. Only then will he be available again.” Gers chairman Andrew Cavenagh told a shareholders meeting on Monday that he expected “three to five more” signings before the transfer deadline.
