Looks like Matěj Jurásek is leaving Norwich City, with Sparta Prague now closing in on a deal for the winger. The 22-year-old is expected to travel to the Czech Republic this week to complete the move. That is according to Czech outlet inFotbal, who present the development as an exclusive. Norwich are set to send Jurásek to Sparta on loan, with the agreement also including an option to buy. It would bring an early end to his current spell at Carrow Road, at least for now. Norwich paid €7m (£6.1m) to sign him from Slavia Prague in January 2025. Sparta want deal completed quickly Matěj Jurásek has been on Sparta’s radar for some time, according to inFotbal. The opportunity to actually sign him only appeared in recent days. Sparta, led by sporting director Tomáš Rosický, have moved quickly since then. Sources tell the Czech outlet that Sparta want to complete Jurásek’s arrival “as soon as possible”. The winger should therefore arrive in Prague before the end of this week to finish the transfer. For Norwich, that means a player they invested €7m (£6.1m) in around 18 months ago is heading back to his homeland. Jurásek has made 21 appearances for the Canaries, scoring once and providing two assists. His move to England clearly hasn’t developed as Norwich would have hoped. The purchase option is particularly interesting from their perspective. It gives Sparta the chance to make the move permanent if Jurásek gets back on track in Prague. A controversial destination in Prague Matěj Jurásek’s choice of club also adds another layer to the transfer. He came through at Sparta’s great rivals Slavia Prague. The winger made 91 competitive appearances for their first team, contributing 17 goals and 15 assists. Moving directly from Norwich means he isn’t technically crossing Prague from Slavia to Sparta. That probably won’t make the switch much less controversial locally. Sparta have a clear sporting reason for pursuing him. Captain Lukáš Haraslín recently left for Saudi Arabia, creating a vacancy on the wings. Everything now points towards the Norwich player getting his chance to rebuild his career back in the Czech Republic. The next step is his trip to Prague, with Sparta pushing to get the deal over the line this week.
