Kim Hellberg delivers Middlesbrough transfer message ahead of Lincoln City test Middlesbrough will host Lincoln City in the first game of the new Championship season this weekend. Middlesbrough head coach Kim Hellberg reflected on an eventful summer transfer window - and stressed there is still work to do ahead of Saturday’s Championship opener against second tier newcomers Lincoln City. Boro lost the services of the influential Hayden Hackney last month as the academy graduate agreed a move to Premier League club Everton - but the funds received from that deal have been put to good use over the last six weeks with six new signings arriving at the Riverside Stadium. Forward duo Will Lankshear and Kyle Joseph arrived from Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City respectively and United States internationals Max Arfsten and Sebastian Berhalter were also snapped up. Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek was secured earlier this month, Jeremy Sarmiento’s loan deal was converted into a permanent switch and Myles Peart-Harris was landed on a free transfer. Spurs defender Ash Phillips could be the latest new arrival as talks are ongoing between the two clubs - and Hellberg has admitted he expects further business before the window closes in just under three weeks. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Boro boss said: “It’s been a good summer. I think the transfer window has been very good for us. Steve, Kieran and Neil have done a brilliant job, with many other people working with them, helping them to get a very strong squad here. “We are not done yet. I think there will be some people walking through the doors. But I am looking at a squad that is very hungry and I love the profile of the players we’ve signed. It’s a lot of young players who want to achieve, and want to work hard to get better. I would rate the summer quite high.” ‘It’s looking much better’ - Hellberg on injury issues Boro’s hard work throughout the summer transfer window has left Hellberg with a wealth of options ahead of the new season - although he is facing some major calls before he selects his starting eleven for the home clash with the newly-promoted Imps. The Swede has confirmed Riley McGree, Alfie Jones and summer signing Myles Peart-Harris have all trained in recent days and are likely to be available - but Hellberg admitted Aidan Morris and David Strelec are doubts. He said: “We have some 50-50 calls to make for the weekend, on Aidan [Morris], for example. I don’t know about him yet, it will be a 50-50 call on whether it’s this game or the next one. I think David [Strelec] is in a similar position. I don’t think it’s this game for him, but he will start training next week. It’s looking much better. “Riley [McGree], Alfie [Jones] and Myles [Peart-Harris] have trained fully, but that’s only been for a couple of days. So, again, we will have to see how we use them. But it is definitely looking much, much better for us because everyone apart from Tommy should be back next week and able to train fully.
