Cardiff City 'set' to sign Sheffield Wednesday-linked Calum Scanlon on loan from Liverpool
A Sheffield Wednesday-linked defender appears set for a loan move to the Championship
Liverpool defender Calum Scanlon is reportedly set to join Cardiff City on loan - despite talk of interest from Sheffield Wednesday.
The 21-year-old has been on Liverpool’s books since 2020, when he was prised from Birmingham City’s youth system.
He has since made two senior appearances for the Reds and spent time on loan at Millwall and Cardiff. Scanlon spent the second half of last season with the latter, helping the Bluebirds seal promotion from League One.

According to Wales Online, he is now set to return to Cardiff for a second loan spell in Wales.
He is said to have made an impression on Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy, doing enough to prompt a second swoop for his signature.
League One promotion hopefuls Wednesday have been named as admirers of the former England youth international, who is a left-back by trade.
Sheffield Wednesday’s left-back dilemma
The Owls have managed to retain Max Lowe, but the 29-year-old does not have much competition following Reece Johnson’s loan move to Eastleigh.
There had been talk of Wednesday pursuing a reunion with former loanee Tayo Adaramola, but he is now said to be of interest to Cercle Brugge.
Wednesday have also ran the rule over free agent Reece James, who was part of their League One promotion-winning squad four years ago.
Lowe is an accomplished operator and is likely to be among the standout left-backs on the third rung of the English footballing ladder.
However, if the former Sheffield United man succumbs to injury, the Owls could have to resort to playing someone out of position to fill the void.
Fortunately for Wednesday, they do have until September 1 to wrap up their summer transfer business.
