The trend of going after young players on the fringes of first team football paid off with Ayden Heaven recently, and it’s a strategy the club have kept up under new leadership. This week that strategy appeared to lead the club towards Leicester City midfielder Louis Page. The Article reported that United were in pursuit alongside Arsenal and Aston Villa for the youngster, with a potential deal listed in the region of £10m.
Page, 18, already popped up for the Foxes in the first team during an ill-fated Championship campaign. Relegation down to League One led the club to raise extra funds through sales, including winger Jeremy Monga, who moved to Manchester City last month. The 17-year-old wide player was on United’s radar earlier in the summer, but no deal came to fruition.
With Page, it could be another story.
The midfielder was Leicester City’s Academy Player of the Year in the 2024/25 season and made five starts in 21 appearances for the first team last season. He balanced his polaying time with nine matches for the team’s U21 side as well.
The player earned some comparisons to Jude Bellingham for his quick rise through the ranks in midfield. While he was able to earn minutes in the second tier of English football, he would more than likely be limited to a developmental role with United.
