Former Walsall and Shrewsbury Town striker seals League Two move before West Brom opener
Rotherham boss Alex Bruce has bolstered his squad with the addition of the experienced frontman ahead of the new season.
Former Walsall and Shrewsbury Town striker Tom Bradshaw has signed for Rotherham United.
The experienced frontman has checked into the New York Stadium on a free transfer and does so ahead of Saturday evening’s EFL Cup first round opener against Albion.
Bradshaw, 34, left relegated Championship outfit Oxford after 18 months at the Kassam Stadium.
The eight-cap former Wales international spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley in League One, where he fired a brace against Rotherham.
Bradshaw has agreed a one-year contract with the Millers, with the option of an extra 12 months. He joins former Wrexham hero Paul Mullin and ex-Coventry man Fabio Tavares among the new attacking recruits.
Shrewsbury-born Bradshaw started his career in Wales, near to where he spent his childhood at Aberystwyth Town.
But a move to Salop brought goals in a League Two promotion campaign and seven strikes in League One in 2013/14, which led to a move to rivals Walsall, worth around £50,000.
Bradshaw hit it off in his two seasons with the Saddlers, in which he bagged 17 goals in consecutive League One campaigns and helped the club to the EFL Trophy final and a first trip to Wembley, as well as the play-offs, which ended in semi-final defeat to Barnsley.
The striker also became a full Wales international while a Saddler.
He departed Bescot Stadium after a transfer request and moved to Barnsley in 2016, before a switch to Millwall in 2019 led to six years as a Lion.
Bradshaw has struggled with injury at times but netted 17 Championship goals for Millwall in the 2022/23 campaign and has more than 500 appearances and 126 goals across his professional career.
"To have the experience of Tom and Mulls up top will be huge,” said Millers boss Alex Bruce, son of former Albion and Villa boss Steve and also a previous backroom coach at The Hawthorns.
Rotherham impressed in Tuesday’s 1-1 friendly draw against Derby.
