He checked in as a fifth central midfield option for Morrison, but that number is set to drop with long-serving Alex Mowatt, 31, poised to complete a transfer to Derby County on Friday, The midfielder has 16 caps for France under-20s, who he represented at last year’s under-20 World Cup in a fourth-placed finish, and Morrison believes he can develop into a “top” player. CLICK HERE Morrison explained that Lille-born Nzingoula has the versatility to play as a deeper or more attacking midfielder and added that the Baggies were blown away by his physical levels. “Yes, he can do both,” Morrison said of his new recruit. “He's got many attributes, but physically he's unbelievable. “So hopefully we can get him up to speed and then be ready for the squad. “Sometimes your eye doesn't lie and some things catch your eye rather than others. Rabby’s caught our eye and we believe he'll fit into the team really well. “He’s had one or two sessions now. We’re back in on Friday, we’ll see what the squad will be.” Nzingoula could make his Albion debut in Saturday afternoon’s Championship curtain-raiser, where there will be at least one midfield change from the side that won in Rotherham in the EFL Cup last weekend, due to Mowatt’s expected exit. “Rabby’s an energetic player whose physicality is top level,” the head coach added. “He can play a number of positions and has a good background for someone who is so young, he’s been playing at good levels. “It shows what type of lad he is, that he went to a different country (Germany) last season. I’m excited to see what he can bring.” Much of Nzingoula’s exposure to senior football has come with loans at Montpellier in the French top flight and Nurnberg, of 2. Bundesliga, last season. He has played under Patrick Vieira and Miroslav Klose. “It helps that he can play both. I think he's one that's a young player so we're going to develop him in and we believe that he could be top,” Morrison said. “So I'm pleased that he's gone on board and I'm pleased that he's going to be extra competition now as well. I've always said that about the competition, you can breed success.” Nzingoula will compete with fellow new recruit Felix Horn Myhre, Ousmane Diakite and Jayson Molumby for the central midfield roles. Albion believe there is suitable competition and cover in midfield, with the likes of Isaac Price and prospects Harry Whitwell and Cole Deeming also capable in that role.
