A new season for Birmingham City - and a new era for our coverage
Transfer news, opinion, interviews and analysis as Birmingham City try to navigate their way back to the Premier League
Dear BirminghamLive readers,
The start of the new season is upon us and Birmingham City supporters are readying themselves for the joys, sorrows and thousands of miles on the road that a Championship campaign guarantees.
Blues fans travelled in hope rather than expectation last season thanks to a thoroughly miserable away record.
Chris Davies’ side only earned 20 points away from St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park. Had that record not been so woeful, Blues would have contested the end of season play-offs.
We were with you every step of the way, asking the questions you wanted answering after dire defeats to Coventry, Sheffield United and Watford, and basking in the glory of those all too rare victories at Blackburn, Preston, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford and Norwich.
And we’ll be there again this time around.
My job as Birmingham City reporter is to bring you closer to the action and by signing up to our Premium subscription offer you’ll get the most comprehensive coverage we can provide, from breaking transfer news and exclusive interviews to analysis, opinion, video and unique access to the people who make the club tick.
Premium pieces this summer included a 2,000 word interview with Davies from Blues’ Portuguese training camp, an interview with Dael Fry and the inside track on new signings Kristoffer Lund and Max Bird.
We will continue to address the topics that matter to you, get the lowdown on new recruits and dissect it all on our Keep Right On Podcast.
You will also benefit from:
- Unlimited access to the BirminghamLive site and app
- Cleaner, faster reading online with fewer adverts*
We’d love to have you on board — subscribe here. Membership starts at £4.99 a month, with the first month just £1, or £39.99 for the year.
Here’s what you can expect from me, Alex Dicken, as part of your Premium subscription for BirminghamLive:
- Q&A: You can send in your questions and get them answered. What’s happening with a player? What does a transfer mean? What does Davies need to change? I want to hear what you want to know.
- Deeper analysis: Don’t just read what happened - understand why it happened. We’ll go beyond the 90 minutes and final whistle, breaking down tactics, key statistics, data and the decisions shaping Blues on the pitch.
- More video: This season, we’re going even bigger. From breaking news and post-match reaction to analysis, interviews and transfer specials, we’ll bring Blues coverage directly to your phone, tablet or laptop.
- More podcasts: Keep Right On is back for its fourth season. Brian Dick and I will be previewing and reviewing all matches and we will be joined by plenty of guests throughout the season.
- Opinion: Whatever happens on and off the pitch, I’ll give you my honest verdict. No sitting on the fence - just clear opinion and analysis that you can agree or disagree with.
- Exclusive interviews: Hear directly from the camp from the Elite Performance and Innovation Centre with sit-down interviews with players, as well as conversations with the heroes of yesteryear.
- Premium newsletters: We’ll be launching a new Premium newsletter bringing the best Blues interviews, insight, analysis and breaking news directly to your inbox.
Whether you are reading my player ratings (and disagreeing with them), watching videos from match days, engaging with me on social media, or sending in questions for me to answer, thank you for your incredible support.
I can't wait to get stuck into another Championship season following Blues.
