Stoke City are believed to have bids in for up to four potential new signings as business steps up heading towards the final fortnight of the summer transfer window. Stoke start their Championship campaign this weekend with a home match against Swansea (Saturday, 3pm) and Mark Robins will have five new faces in his squad: keeper Josh Griffiths, centre-half Luke Graham and midfielders Svante Ingelsson, Ethan Galbraith and Djibril Soumare. The speed of the market has been frustrating since that rush of early business but that should start to turn in the next few days. It is unlikely but not impossible to get a deal over the line in time for the Swansea match, with any player needing to be registered by midday on Friday. Stoke are understood to be in the market for a right-back and left-back as well as a striker, winger and potentially a number 10 as they finalise their squad for the coming months. There has been interest, including loan interest, in senior players who have not seemed at the top of the pecking order in the final couple of weeks of pre-season. Mark Robins, in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Swansea match, knows he needs depth, however, including just for the first couple of months of the season. He said: "We started six weeks ago and you're preparing for the games. If you look at the schedule we've got games Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday. I think we've got an eight league game programme and the cup games in between before we have the international break for three weeks. That is different and will feel different because it will feel like you've only just started but then have a three-week break. "You plan for all those things but initially you're looking at the pre-season programme, hoping you don't get too many injuries and you can bring players in that you want to strengthen and then the season starts and we get on with the games. "You have to manage the squad. Players will get opportunities early and they have to be ready to take them so just keep training, keep doing what they're doing and opportunities will come without a doubt, it's going to happen."
