Chris Davies has confirmed Birmingham City midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman faces ‘months’ out injured.
Gardner-Hickman hasn’t been seen since being withdrawn in the opening exchanges of Blues’ friendly at Burton Albion two weeks ago.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, making 32 Championship appearances, and might have been a useful rotation option for Davies had he not sustained an injury.

Asked for an update on Gardner-Hickman’s condition, Davies said: “TGH is a little bit longer. He will be months, not weeks.”
Gardner-Hickman has been joined in the treatment room by Paik Seung-ho who wasn’t able to participate in any pre-season matches.
The South Korean reported for pre-season later than his teammates after appearing in the World Cup for his country only to pick up an injury in training.
Blues have ploughed through pre-season with Jhon Solis and Tomoki Iwata as their only senior midfield men and they are set to start Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie against Swansea City.
On Paik, Davies said: “He’s had a good week. He obviously had a knock but he’s made decent progress this week, so he’s in a much better position than he was.”
Blues will be without Marc Leonard until the New Year due to the Achilles injury he sustained towards the end of a productive loan spell at Hearts last season.
The shortage in the engine room has prompted Davies and the club’s recruitment team to run the rule over new midfielders.
“We do have to look at that sort of area,” he admitted. “You look at us in the back half of the pitch and we’ve got decent stability and numbers but probably need reinforcement in the front half. It’s quality not quantity that we want. It’s a cliché but it’s true. We need to try and make the team better rather than the squad.
“With Tommy Doyle leaving and Taylor picking up that injury, and Paik not coming back, has left us a little bit lighter. We’re looking at it.”
Davies will be without forward Marvin Ducksch against Swansea due to an injury which has forced the German to miss all of Blues’ pre-season matches. Demarai Gray is a doubt having missed last week’s game with Barcelona.
