The look was simple. Fabregas was wearing a black cotton T-shirt, a pair of Nike Air Force 1 ’07 and some subtle chains on his wrist. But what gave him extra points was a pair of wide-leg trousers that won out over the skinnier shape of his opponent. I don't think you need to be know much about putting together an outfit to understand why. The fit of his black cotton T-shirt isn't too slim or too baggy. Then there's the accents of gold chains on his wrist, which do a pretty great job at showing off his lovely tan. (Maybe he's been conjuring up his next season strategy from a sunlounger?) Then, there's the trousers, which struck me as surprisingly smart for a football pitch. These days, I'm more used to seeing a pair of chinos on the sidelines. Managers stopped wearing actual suits around the time Man U's run of good football ended. But this pair is a roomy wide-leg suit trouser, finished with side adjusters on the waist and a few pleats on the front. The side adjusters help centre the waist perfectly on his hips, while the pleats add some flow and drape without drowning him in fabric. They happen to pool perfectly over his trainers, too. They're smart, louche and a sign of a good season of good fits to come. This upward trajectory in style is happening alongside one that's happening in his work, too. The 39-year-old is constantly touted as a rising star within the managerial world, and has done a pretty good job of redeeming the Italian club. Less than a decade ago, they were in the fourth division; this season is the first time Como qualified for the Champions League. That all comes down to Fabregas' fluid style of football. You could say his personal style is also heading that way. Recreating the look is all about wearing pieces that fit you well. You might not have the same salary to play with, but that doesn't mean that you can't emulate Fabregas' vibe with a pair of suit trousers yourself. Just make sure they don't crop at the ankle, and that they're not too relaxed in fit. Your trousers should still come across as a little serious, as Fabregas is a serious manager, after all. Maybe his next match will be more in his favour, too.
