Wigan Athletic new-boy 'buzzing' after completing Premier League switch
Archie Harris admitted he's 'buzzing to be here' after becoming Wigan Athletic's ninth summer signing on a two-year deal from Premier League Bournemouth.
The 21-year-old impressed Gary Caldwell and his staff after appearing for Latics as a trialist in pre-season, and has now joined the club on a permanent basis.
"I'm buzzing to be here," he said. "It feels really good, and I can't wait to get started.
"It's a huge club...I watched Wigan Athletic growing up as a kid in the Premier League.
"Being here today and looking out at the stadium, it's really good, and I'm really glad to be here.
"The gaffer has been really good with me, and he's settled me in really quickly with the lads.
"It's been great to speak to him. He has a clear layout of what he wants to achieve this season, which is really good to hear, and it's nice to follow someone who has been at the top level and wants the club to do well."
The Wales Under-21 international came through the ranks with the Cherries, and has experienced first-team football on loan with Poole Town, Torquay United and Eastleigh.
His progress also saw him included in Bournemouth's Premier League matchday squads on occasion.
"I've really enjoyed my time here so far," he added. "It's a great group of lads, and I'm excited to get going now.
"Obviously I had the chance last week with a good chunk of training, and the game at Southport to show what I can do, so settling in properly now will be really good.
"In a nutshell, I'm an energetic young full-back, I like to get up and down the pitch, but I'm a defender first.
"I like to win my tackles and my headers, but then when I can get forward, and the chance to get near the opposition box, hopefully there'll be some goals and assists from me.
"Being able to play anywhere on the left - from left centre-half, to left-back, to left wing-back, to even a bit of left midfield - has stood me in goo stead.
"Each position has given me the chance to continue my progession and hopefully I can keep that going."
