Liverpool transfer news as PSG offers Bradley Barcola boost amid Cody Gakpo agreement
Liverpool transfer news as Bradley Barcola looks as though he could be getting closer to an exit from Paris Saint-Germain, while Cody Gakpo has reportedly reached an agreement
The new season is getting closer by the day, and so is the end of the summer transfer window, with plenty of work still to do for Liverpool.
The Reds have added three new faces this summer, but are still working to bolster their attack, with a replacement not yet found for Mohamed Salah. The pursuit of Bradley Barcola is ongoing, and all the signs point to the French international departing Paris Saint-Germain.
Should Liverpool finally be able to negotiate a deal with the European champions though, it could result in another player leaving Anfield, with an agreement reportedly reached for one player.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.
Bradley Barcola (PSG)
PSG is closing on another winger in what could be a major boost for Liverpool's pursuit of Barcola.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 champions have reached a verbal agreement with Ajax to sign Mika Godts in a deal worth $64M (€55M).
The 21-year-old is a left-winger, which would put him in direct competition with Barcola, who is already playing second fiddle to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue. What's more, French journalist Sebastien Vidal claims Barcola is becoming "increasingly frustrated" with his situation with the European champions.
Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Liverpool.com says: Barcola will surely leave PSG soon. No matter how much the French side might insist that none of these new signings are being lined up as replacements, the sheer number of forwards they have would suggest they're getting ready for his departure.
The question is whether Liverpool can agree on a deal. It would require PSG to bring its asking price down considerably, which may become more of a possibility as the window draws to a close, although it already feels like the Reds have let things drag out for too long.
Cody Gakpo (Liverpool)
The prospect of Cody Gakpo joining Tottenham is "becoming very realistic," with the Liverpool forward having reached an agreement in principle with the north London club, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal International.
Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is said to be determined to land the 27-year-old, with "all parties" on the same page regarding a transfer.
Liverpool though still needs to agree, and Gakpo's exit would likely hinge on the club securing at least one new winger, which looks as though it might be growing closer to with Barcola.
Liverpool.com says: It would feel like an odd decision if Liverpool let Gakpo go this summer, considering it could do with someone to act as backup to Alexander Isak while Hugo Ekitike is out injured.
It's even more confusing if it lets him go to Tottenham, who will have ambitions of challenging at the top end of the table again, and will therefore be direct rivals of the Reds again. We'll wait and see, with Gakpo perhaps feeling as though he needs more of a guarantee elsewhere considering Liverpool is targeting new wingers.
