Watch behind the scenes of Hibs in North Macedonia as Conference League triumph sends club to Belgium Hibs are continuing their Conference League adventure after a big result in North Macedonia - have a look behind the scenes. Hibs fans are raiding Skyscanner for flights to Belgium after the club clinched a Conference League play-off clash with Gent. A 2-1 aggregate win over North Macedonian side Shkendija in the third qualifying round has put the Premiership side two games away from a lucrative league phase worth seven figures if reached. Fans made a complicated journey to Kosovo last month for the club’s clash with Malisheva, and after defeat in the second qualifying round first leg last time out, Hibs players were keen to repay punters who made a similar journey to Skopje. They now head for Belgian side Gent next week after a 0-0 draw at the Todor Proeski National Arena. Head coach David Gray said: “It’s a fantastic result, and a fantastic achievement. Especially off the back of Sunday, because of the highs of going and winning at Ibrox against Rangers. Then when you think back to where we were last Thursday, and everything that went into that game, knowing the job is to get into the next round. To a man, it was a massive performance – and the players fully deserve what they got. “It’s a really difficult place to come, against a very good side that got to the knockout stages of the competition last year, so it shows the magnitude of that. But also the heat, everything we had to deal with, and we had the answers to it. It’s an incredible time to get a first clean sheet of the season, so that’s a huge positive for us as well. The character’s been tested a lot this season. The character after the Kosovo game, such a poor result and performance for us. But the character to bounce back and get a result.” Our man, John Greechan, was in North Macedonia covering the game for the Evening News. Take a look at his travel diary in the video player above.
