Jan Bürger is leaving VfL Wolfsburg to join Dutch top-flight side PEC Zwolle with immediate effect. The 19-year-old defender has signed for the Eredivisie club on a permanent basis. As part of the transfer, VfL have secured the option to bring Bürger back to Wolfsburg in the future. From Wolfsburg youngster to Bundesliga player The Helmstedt native joined VfL in 2017, wearing the Wolves shirt from U11 level onwards and progressing through every age group at the academy. Bürger made his Bundesliga debut in November 2025 in the home game against Bayer Leverkusen. Since U17 level, he has made 94 competitive appearances for the Green-and-Whites, seven of them in the Bundesliga. VfL Wolfsburg would like to thank Jan for his time in the green-and-white shirt and wish him all the very best, both on and off the pitch, for the next chapter of his career in Zwolle.
