Portuguese giants make transfer decision on 13-goal Newcastle United and Chelsea target The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies are given an update on one attacking target. Portuguese giants Porto have made a firm decision over the future of a reported Newcastle United transfer target as the final fortnight of the summer transfer window rapidly approach. The Magpies have already added midfield duo Aladji Bamba and Sean Steur, goalkeepers Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen and winger Bazoumana Toure to their squad since the end of last season - but the departures of the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier and Sandro Tonali have meant the St James Park hierarchy still have plenty of work to do as new head coach Matthias Jaissle prepares for his first season in charge. Reports have suggested United are closing in on a £25m deal for Benfica full-back Amar Dedic as they look to provide competition and cover for Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall with the signing of the Bosnia international. However, a midfielder and another attacking option are also believed to be on the agenda before the summer transfer window comes to a close early next month. The Magpies have been linked with several potential targets in recent weeks - and were suggested as a possible suitor for Porto forward William Gomes after the 20-year-old Brazilian forward enjoyed a highly promising first season at the Estádio do Dragão. After moving to the Primeira Liga club from Sao Paulo in January last year, Gomes has gone on to score 14 goals and provide two assists in 59 appearances and 13 of those goals came last season as Porto were crowned as league champions. Gomes’ form had led to speculation Newcastle and Chelsea were both keen to offer the youngster an opportunity to impress in the Premier League - but a recent report from ESPN Brazil has suggested both clubs may have to be patient before making a move for the former Brazil Under-17 international. The report states Porto will ‘not negotiate’ over a possible deal for Gomes during the summer transfer window and will instead focus on the possible sale of Rodrigo Mora to Serie A club Roma. However, the report also reveals Porto could consider Gomes’ departure during the January transfer window or next summer if a suitable offer is received.
