Former Magpies midfielder Dan Gosling assessed the options available to new head coach Matthias Jaissle ahead of next weekend’s Premier League opener against Liverpool - and he believes his old club have a lot of work to do before they are ready to face the Reds. He told Sky Sports News: “It’s not an easy decision, we don’t know if they’re going to sign Dedic from Benfica. I think that’s ongoing and Livramento is still struggling with an injury. “They don’t have an abundance of options either. Wissa’s looked sharp in pre-season. Obviously Barnes was one of their main players last year. For me, the team picks itself. It’ll be interesting to see how Bamba comes in in midfield. I think he’ll be one of the two, I don’t see Joelinton as a double pivot player really. “Ramsey or Willock, it’s probably a toss-up, they’ve both had minutes and the new signing Toure, I believe comes straight in. There’s not huge options for the new manager. They need three or four players coming into this team, arguably a couple into the starting eleven.
