However, he does appear to have done enough to attract interest from elsewhere following his maiden Blues campaign. Hull City ‘request information’ According to reporter Rudy Galetti, Hull are among the clubs to have shown interest in the 29-year-old, but could face competition. Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach are said to be eyeing Neumann as a potential replacement for Nico Elvedi, who is being targeted by Leeds United. Posting on X, Galetti said: “Following Nico Elvedi’s [proposed] move to Leeds United, Borussia Mönchengladbach have shown interest in signing Phil Neumann from Birmingham City. “As revealed, Hull City also requested information on him, while the 29-year-old centre-back is now attracting interest from other European sides.” The prospect of Premier League football could prove attractive to Neumann, who has never plied his trade in England’s top tier. He would add further depth to a centre-back department that has lost Charlie Hughes to injury, but has recently been bolstered by the additions of Lucas Herrington and Nobel Mendy. Arrival of a new season Hull are due to kick off their Premier League campaign on August 22, when Manchester United are due to visit the MKM Stadium. Neumann returned to competitive action last weekend, helping Birmingham defeat Swansea City in the first round of the Carabao Cup. He could be back in action this afternoon, with the Blues due to visit Sheffield United for their Championship season opener. For the defender, it will be a case of shutting out external noise and focusing on Birmingham’s early-season tests.
