Hull City transfer news: Champions League, Serie A and now Premier League for 10th summer signing
France Under-21 international Lucas Gourna-Douath says Hull City have signed a fighter as their tenth addition of the summer.
The defensive midfielder has signed a five-year contract after joining for an undisclosed fee.
Despite only being 23, he has already packed plenty of experiences into his short career.
After coming through at Saint-Etienne, Gourna-Douath played for the Salzburg franchise of the Red Bull group, where the style of play is based around energetic high pressing. Whilst there he played 17 times in the Champions League group stage.
Since then he has been loaned to Serie A Roma and Ligue 1 Le Havre.
He was just 18 when he became the most expensive signing in Austrian football history.
“I’m really happy because it was such a long journey from the first phonecall until I signed," admitted Gourna-Douath. "I’m so excited to get started.
“I know Hull City is a big family club. Playing in front of our fans will be fun. It will be amazing for me.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world. I’m really happy and really excited to face those teams with Hull.
“I love fighting to win the ball back and having the ball at my feet to make the team play. I love to play for the badge and for the fans.
“I’m really happy to have this experience. I got a chance to play in the Champions League, Serie A and Ligue 1. I’ve learned a lot and I’m really happy to put this experience on the pitch in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is the dream of all footballers. Now, I have a chance to play in the Premier League, so I am excited to play.”
Gourna-Douath has played for France at every age group from under-16s to under-21s, captaining at four of them.
His competitive debut could come at home to Manchester United in the Premier League on August 22.
