West Ham United have reportedly started talks with Sunderland about a move for left winger Simon Adringa. The Hammers. who are in the midst of takeover talks involving ex-Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley, are expected to have a busy final month of the transfer window. The top priority will be revitalising their forward department and they have deep pockets after cashing in £150m for Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes. They were linked with a move for Stoke City star Sorba Thomas earlier this week but the Northern Echo now claims they have held preliminary discussions about taking Adringa. It is claimed that West Ham want a season-long loan with purchase obligation in the event of promotion back to the Premier League but Sunderland are pushing for a permanent deal. He is now said to be valued at £30m "thanks to his performances in the French top flight". Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris said: “At the moment, we didn’t decide if he [Adingra] would stay or not. He struggled a bit last season. It’s fair to say that. But I think the experience in Monaco was interesting. And for the maturity, it’s still positive to have different experiences, and then you get more mature. It’s going to be an opportunity for him, so we’ll see.” Thomas was a huge part of Mark Robins' plans for Stoke last season and will be a key man again this time around.
