Burnley complete loan signing of exciting Manchester City defender Burnley complete loan signing of Man City defender Burnley have completed the signing of highly-rated Manchester City defender Max Alleyne. The 21-year-old arrives on a straight loan and will spend the season at Turf Moor, returning to the Championship for a second straight season. The centre-back made 17 appearances for Watford during the first half of last season, before being recalled in January by City owing to injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias. He made seven appearances during the second half of the campaign, scoring in Man City’s 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter City, featuring against Manchester United in the Premier League and turning out in the Champions League too. The England Under-21 international is described as a progressive, calm defender with an eye for a forward pass through the lines. “I'm super excited, I can't wait to get going,” he said of his move. It's a huge team, a Premier League team to be honest and I'm so buzzing to be here.” The Bristol-born defender first signed for City in 2021 for a £1.5m fee from Southampton. He signed his first professional contract the following year. At the end of the 2024/25 season, Alleyne was named City’s Under-21 player of the year. He becomes Burnley’s fourth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Ben Amos, Ugo Raghouber and Lluc Castell. Alleyne will now compete with the likes of Bashir Humphreys, Hjalmar Ekdal and Joe Worrall for a place in the centre of defence.
