The Sun ran a story earlier this week suggesting David Moyes’ Everton were considering a move for the 36-year-old during the final two weeks of the summer transfer window. The report added that, should a move go through, it would only involve a “nominal fee”. However, that speculation was shot down by BBC Radio Merseyside reporter Giulia Bould, who - while admitting the Toffees are in the market for a right-back - said Walker is not among their list of targets. Click here Many might have expected Walker to have moved on following last season’s relegation from the Premier League, where the Clarets won just four games and amassed a measly 22 points. But the former Manchester City man is confident he can help Nicky Hayen’s side bounce back at the first attempt. “Obviously it was a disappointing campaign last season,” he added. “I feel that we actually played okay in the first quarter of it, we had a tough opening couple of games to the season and I thought we were there in thereabouts. “It was just that period where we couldn't pick up a win, where we fell behind too often and it was always going to be an uphill struggle. “But looking at the lads now, looking at them in pre-season, having been back for a month now, they're fully up for it and we know our objective, which is to get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.”
