A transfer deal sheet allows a club to confirm an agreement has been reached prior to the deadline, granting an additional two hours to complete the rest of the paperwork. For an 11pm deadline, the deal sheet cannot be submitted before 9pm, and must arrive before the window closes. Once lodged, the clubs involved would then have until 1am to finalise the transfer. What business have Sunderland already conducted this summer? In terms of incomings, this summer has been a quiet one on Wearside. At the time of writing, experienced full-back Thomas Meunier remains the only arrival at the Stadium of Light, joining the club on a free transfer. Outgoings have been a different matter, however. While the most prominent departure has arguably been that of Eliezer Mayenda, who has signed for Stade Rennais in France, several other players on the fringes of Sunderland’s squad have also bid farewell to the North East. Academy graduate Antony Patterson has joined Wrexham, while the likes of Nazariy Rusyn, Leo Hjelde, Ahmed Abdullahi, Harrison Jones, Arthur Masuaku, Milan Aleksic, and Timothee Pembele have also found new clubs. Speaking after Saturday’s win against RC Lens, Sunderland boss Le Bris said: "The transfer window is still unpredictable, but we are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad.
