Mundle played a significant role through Sunderland’s opening pre-season fixtures and though he was absent for the 2-0 win over RC Lens, Le Bris confirmed afterwards that this merely due to a minor ankle issue. Mundle was pictured in training at the Academy of Light this week and so could have a part to play when the Black Cats face Stade Rennais in their final pre-season fixture of the campaign on Saturday. Fellow left winger Simon Adingra is expected to depart this summer, though his situation could be complicated by an injury picked up on the club’s US tour. As per Sky Sports, Mundle’s new deal is not yet finalised but could be confirmed before the start of the new Premier League season. RLB’s injury update ahead after RC Lens win Mundle was one of a number of players who Le Bris issued an update on after the 2-0 win over RC Lens last weekend. “Romaine was injured as well, he's got a kick on his ankle so that one is minor,” Le Bris said. “Simon might be a bit longer, so we are still monitoring his ankle and we need to wait. With Nordi Mukiele it's not too serious, it's a shame because I think his pre season was really good, good standards. It’s just minor, but we need to take care of him. With Omar [Alderete], it was an injury during the last game, just before the last game - so it's just about stiffness, It's not major, but it's important to build his condition, so probably both of them should be on the bench for Ipswich, I think.”
