However, he was not the first target; Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider has revealed that the Whites had considered a move for Wolves defender Santiago Bueno. But the hierarchy have decided against pursuing the former Barcelona product. Bueno had been on the shortlist since the end of last season, with initial talks already having taken place. There seems to have been nothing past the initial enquiry. The Whites have already engaged in talks and agreed to personal terms over the move. All that remains is to find a fee with Gladbach to complete the transfer in the coming days. HSV will also be pushing to complete their move for Sebastiaan Bornauw within the same time frame. Elvedi will be a welcome addition to the backline, having played under Daniel Farke a few seasons ago. Leeds are really bolstering their first team ahead of their second season in the Premier League.
