Oliver Glasner has warned his Nottingham Forest side will not be at their best for their Premier League opener against Leeds United next week. Sky Austria have an interview with the Nottingham Forest manager. He insists they would need to be “wizards” to be fully prepared for next week’s Premier League opener. The Austrian coach was a surprise appointment for Forest at the beginning of July following his departure from Crystal Palace. He arrives at the City Ground after a tumultuous season last year in which they went through four different managers. Now the hope is that Glasner – who is one of the best paid managers in Europe – can put them on a firm footing and push for Europe once again. He, though, wants to temper expectations of a flying start against Leeds. “We had a crazily intense preparation behind us so far and that means getting fit,” he said. “We’re starting right away with a double header against Leeds on Saturday in the Premier League and then on Tuesday again here at City Ground in the Carabao Cup. “So that’s two Premier League games within three days. Then it’s off to Anfield. So that’s why we still have some homework to do. “Without wanting to paint things black, we will not yet be in our best condition at the beginning. We would be wizards if we get that done within five, six weeks or with players who might train with us for a week or two.” Starting from zero The new Nottingham Forest manager was also keen to point out that he and his team are basically starting from zero after arriving this summer. “There’s just an awful lot to do, getting to know a lot of people, of course, discussing transfers etc. But yeah, it’s fun,” he added. “As I said, everyone is pulling together. Now it’s important that we want to stabilise Nottingham. “Basically, we had to go to zero and to start again. We did that, and I’m very satisfied with the progress, as I said. We’ll look forward to it.”
