Tottenham striker has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest. One of the main issues Tottenham Hotspur have faced since Harry Kane’s departure in 2024 is the lack of goals. Kane was an elite goalscorer for Spurs, as evidenced by his numbers, and he has also proven himself at a higher level at Bayern Munich. Replacing the England captain was an uphill task, and the situation hasn’t changed even after two years. In a bid to fill the void created by him, Spurs shattered their transfer record in 2024 by signing Dominic Solanke, paying a total package of £65 million to Bournemouth. On the back of the best season of his career in the 2023/24 season, scoring 21 goals in 42 appearances, Tottenham decided to splash big on Dominic Solanke. However, the returns so far have not been great. He has netted 22 goals in 65 appearances, whilst struggling to keep himself fit across two campaigns in North London. The England international spent large chunks of the previous season on the sidelines, missing 33 games in the process. The City Ground chiefs are keeping tabs on the Englishman, despite he endured an injury-ravaged last season. Given the latest speculation, former scout Bryan King thinks Solanke could revive his career at Nottingham Forest. He has urged Tottenham to sell the 28-year-old to the Oliver Glasner-led club before the transfer window slams shut. “I think that’s, when you look where he come from, you know, he came from Bournemouth, and at this moment in time, you’d put Forest in the Bournemouth sort of group, wouldn’t you,” Bryan King exclusively told Football Insider. “So, it could be a good move for him because he could rebuild his career. I don’t think the pressures up there are as big as they are at Tottenham. “Again, I didn’t think it was a good signing for Tottenham when they brought him in. Solanke to replace Harry Kane? Yeah, all right.” Solanke going nowhere Solanke’s ankle troubles have continued throughout the pre-season campaign this summer. The centre-forward recently sat out of the Getafe friendly after experiencing ankle pain during the week. The former Bournemouth star underwent ankle surgery last August that ruled him out until January, before a hamstring injury ended his season prematurely. If Spurs indeed want to sell Solanke and recoup a big chunk of the £65 million invested for his services in 2024, then that looks very unlikely to happen this summer. He’s got the backing of De Zerbi, while Forest will not splash a lot of money to recruit an injury-prone striker. Also, for a club looking to bolster their striker options ahead of the new campaign, there is no way we let go of Solanke with the idea of replacing him so late in the transfer window. In reality, we expect the player to stay at White Hart Lane and try his best to keep himself fit throughout the 2026/27 season.
