How Millwall missed out on signing World Cup star

Millwall have never played in the English top flight since the Premier League began in 1992, but they might have changed that story if they had listened to recommendations from a scout about World Cup star Antonio Nusa and other players.
Former Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout Bryan King knows a thing or two about identifying players who can develop into top stars and has been recommending them to clubs for some time.
He realised early that Kasper Høgh and Nusa could develop into top players, and he asked Millwall to sign both players at different times. However, they never believed either player had the potential to do well for their team, a prediction that has since proven to be false.
Høgh and Nusa Develop Into Top Players
After a fine spell at Bodo/Glimt, Høgh has started his time at Celtic on a very good note, while Nusa is being chased by teams such as Liverpool and Arsenal as he now plays for RB Leipzig in Germany.
The development of both players highlights the opportunity Millwall missed when they were presented with the chance to sign them. King had identified their potential early, but the club did not act on his recommendations.
The two players have since taken different paths in their careers, but both have continued to demonstrate the qualities that King recognised when he recommended them to Millwall.
King Explains His Millwall Recommendations
Discussing both players and the recommendations, King said via Sporten:
“You know, I recommended him [Høgh] to Millwall about four years ago. I just sent in a list of some players and he was on that list, as was the boy Nusa, but I never heard back. There are not the same people there now as there were when I sent that information to him, but I never heard back at all.”
King’s comments underline how Millwall were allowed to consider both players before they developed further. Neither recommendation led to a deal, and both Høgh and Nusa have since progressed into players attracting attention from bigger clubs.
For Millwall, the decisions serve as a reminder of how difficult it can be to identify future top players at an early stage. King saw the potential in both players, but the club ultimately decided against pursuing either of them.
