Tottenham have been admirers of the highly-rated Chelsea defender. Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence is edging closer to finalising his transfer to Inter Milan. The 26-year-old delivered some really impressive displays for England at this summer’s World Cup, but Roberto De Zerbi seemingly does not rate him. This has resulted in Spurs agreeing a £30million fee with Inter Milan. The potential departure of Spence would leave Roberto De Zerbi with Pedro Porro as the only recognised right-back in his squad. This has reportedly led the North Londoners to scour the market for full-back options to replace Spence in Roberto De Zerbi’s defensive roster. Chelsea full-back linked with a shock move to Tottenham According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto has been linked with a shock move to Tottenham. The Blues have slapped a £75m asking price on the Frenchman, who is also wanted by Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Juventus. Malo Gusto has had a mixed time at Chelsea since making the move from Lyon in 2023. He has made 134 appearances for Chelsea, netting three goals. However, following the arrival of exciting Marco Palestra from Atalanta earlier this summer, the 23-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge has become uncertain. As a result, Gusto wants to leave Chelsea for greener pastures. This has put several clubs across Europe on red alert. Spurs are understood to be among the admirers of the France international’s talent, but new Man City boss Enzo Maresca is keen to reunite with Gusto. Tottenham must look elsewhere As good a talent Gusto is, he currently plies his trade with Chelsea, and knowing the rivalry the two London clubs share, there is no way Spurs will be able to persuade the Blues to sell the full-back to us. Also, if Gusto is to leave Stamford Bridge, he might prefer reuniting with Maresca at Man City over joining Spurs. This is good enough reason to suggest that a deal for the Frenchman cannot realistically happen. So, there is no point for the N17 bosses to continue admiring the 23-year-old and move on to other targets to replace Spence. Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz has been shortlisted, and Tottenham would do well to bring him to N17. However, cracking a deal with Palace for Munoz would be an uphill task so late in the transfer window.
