West Ham United women’s team wrapped up their pre-season training camp in Wales with a goalless draw against Bristol City in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Vale Resort. Played in challenging temperatures, the match was divided into three 30-minute periods, giving Rita Guarino’s side another valuable opportunity to build fitness and sharpen preparations ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Hammers were the dominant side throughout, enjoying long spells of possession and creating the better chances, but were unable to find the breakthrough. Viviane Asseyi was heavily involved during the opening stages, first racing onto a through ball from Estelle Cascarino before being denied by a crucial defensive intervention. The French forward then combined well with Nadine Riesen down the left, while Seraina Piubel also saw an effort blocked after a sustained spell of West Ham pressure. Katie Zelem was next to threaten when she headed wide from an Asseyi corner, before Riko Ueki came closest to opening the scoring. The Japan international struck the crossbar from inside the penalty area and was later denied by an excellent save after meeting an inviting cross with a powerful diving header. Asseyi continued to trouble the Bristol City defence, forcing goalkeeper Lauren Brzykcy into action after a determined run through the middle, while Laia Codina narrowly failed to connect with a dangerous set-piece delivery as the opening third ended scoreless. Bristol City's best spell came early in the second period, although their only notable effort drifted comfortably wide. Constance Picaud remained alert to gather a corner, but the Robins struggled to create clear opportunities. At the midway point of the contest, Kelly Gago replaced Piubel and quickly made her presence felt with an energetic run into the box. Despite West Ham maintaining control through the midfield creativity of Zelem and the width provided by Riesen and Yu Endo, the deadlock remained intact heading into the final third. Further changes saw Ylinn Tennebø and Ebony Salmon introduced, with the pair adding fresh energy to the attack. Gago almost made an immediate impact when she rose highest to meet another dangerous Zelem delivery, but her header drifted off target. The Hammers continued to push forward, while Codina produced an important defensive block to prevent Bristol City from capitalising on one of their few promising attacks. Megan Walsh, Niamh Peacock, Halle Houssein and Sude Oztas were also introduced as Guarino rotated her squad during the closing stages. Although West Ham remained in control of possession until the final whistle, neither side could find a winning goal, and the match finished level after 90 minutes of action.
