But that didn’t affect Burnley’s momentum and they swiftly doubled their lead when a trialist managed to convert from close range. Both sides exchanged good chances to score without success, before Rovers pulled a goal back in the 84th minute through Sergeant. Burnley’s rivals weren’t able to force home an equaliser though, leaving captain George Brierley to lift the trophy.
