It’s once again time for 3 Added Minutes’ regular morning round-up of some of the biggest and wildest new Premier League transfer rumours which you might have missed over the past 24 hours – and we kick things off today with a story involving Aston Villa and Everton. According to Football Insider, Villa are showing “fresh interest” in Jack Grealish, and may be hatching a plan to bring their one-time winger back to the Midlands five years after he left for Manchester City in a deal worth £100m – but Everton still stand in their way. The Toffees, with whom Grealish spent last season on loan, “remain the favourites” to land the 30-year-old on a permanent deal, although his continued recovery from the ankle injury which effectively ended his spell at the Hill Dickinson Stadium means that a decision has been delayed for now. Atlético Madrid are also monitoring his situation, with all three sides still contemplating whether to make a formal offer – but while Everton are allegedly in pole position, it’s said that the opportunity to go back to Villa Park would “pull on [his] heartstrings.” The 3AM Verdict: One that’s likely to get sorted out later in the window, we would think, not that there’s all that much time left. We also believe from our own sources that it’s premature to suggest that there is a clear favourite, although Everton do retain an interest. Whether Aston Villa are equally keen remains to be seen. Newcastle target ‘keen’ on Tyneside move Over to a story from Portugal, now – according to A Bola, as relayed by Sport Witness, Newcastle United target Amar Dedić is “keen” on a move to England, which could pave the way for a move that’s likely to be worth around £30m. That’s Benfica’s alleged asking price, and although no formal bid has yet been made there has apparently been “contact” between Newcastle and their Portuguese counterparts, with the Bosnian defender – who played under new head coach Matthias Jaissle at RB Salzburg – seemingly happy with the idea of making a switch. Apparently there have also been enquiries from other teams about Dedić’s availability – including an “unnamed German club” – but none of the other teams in the mix have shown as much interest as Newcastle have. It’s now down to the Magpies to work out whether they’re willing to match the asking price. The 3AM Verdict: Newcastle’s interest appears to be genuine, and they have a pretty straightforward path towards signing Dedić if they’re happy with the price tag – and that’s the one big hurdle, as it’s unclear what Newcastle’s own valuation might be at this point in time. Hull inching towards two exciting transfer deals Let’s wrap up with news from Premier League new boys Hull City, who seem to be taking the Sunderland route towards success by signing an awful lot of players – and according to fresh reports, at least two more will be on the way soon. First up, the ever-reliable David Ornstein reports that Salzburg defensive midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath is undergoing a medical prior to making a permanent move on a five-year contract – the transfer fee will be just €4m (£3.5m) for a player who struggled to break into the Austrian side’s starting XI and spent much of last season on loan at Le Havre. Perhaps more excitingly, TEAMtalk claim that the Tigers are “increasingly confident” that they will win the race to sign 21-year-old Augsburg midfielder Mert Kömür. Apparently a bid of around £10m has been turned down but Hull are prepared to up their offer for a player they hold “strong admiration” for. The 3AM Verdict: The 23-year-old Gourna-Douath is likely a budget-friendly back-up signing more than anything else, but Komur is an exciting talent – a Germany Under-21 international and a gifted playmaker who can play either as a number 10 or as a winger. That could prove to be a coup down the line if they meet Augsburg’s valuation.
