Chaplin is expected to play on the right of the two attacking midfielders, as he did in Ipswich under Kieran McKenna, with him now having a familiar face alongside him. The most intriguing aspect of the sixth summer signing is the reunion with Chaplin. Hours after the signing was announced, the club shared a video of Chaplin welcoming the winger to the club with a long hug inside Seagrave. As well as bringing proven League One quality and another popular character into the dressing room, Burns could help unlock the very best from Chaplin. Earlier this summer, the attacker reflected on his time at Ipswich and revealed how important Burns was in his success with the club. “Off the pitch, he was amazing for the group, really amazing," Chaplin said on the Kings of Anglia podcast. "A lot of people gravitate towards him in terms of the way he is - bubbly, funny and an amazing person. On the pitch, I’ve said it to Wes as well, I felt like it was important for him to know, I genuinely don’t think I would have had the career I’ve had in the last three-four years if it wasn’t for him. "I think he’s made me look a lot better player than what I maybe could have ever looked before. The telepathy that we had on the pitch in terms of the way each other played, what we wanted from each other - I’ve never experienced with anyone else ever. "He’s probably the most understanding I’ve ever had with any teammate. Leif [Davis] was very close but I was a lot closer to Wes, [spent] a lot of time actually talking in game as well because we were so close on the pitch. "My passes to him, I don’t think 95% of people would run when I’m not looking at him, I’m looking the other way, not told him or looked at him once, but putting it in a space that he wants to go in. His understanding of me and my understanding of him was probably the best I’ve ever had for any teammate ever. "We can probably both say we made each other a lot better players than we ever have been before."
