Celtic are reported to be close to signing Landon Emenalo on a season long loan according to Stephen McGowan Now writing for the Herald/Celtic Way McGowan has a long track record when it comes to revealing Celtic transfer news. Emenalo is earmarked as left-back cover for Kieran Tierney. It seems almost to be a traditional at Celtic to bring in a left-back on loan. If the deal is completed Emenalo follows on from Marcelo Sarrachi, Jeffrey Schlupp and Alex Valle. Tonight on The Celtic Way McGowan reports: Celtic are closing in a season-long loan deal for teenage Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo. 18-year-old Emenalo, son of former Chelsea technical director Michael, has now been earmarked to provide cover for Kieran Tierney. Originally viewed as a midfielder or central defender, the Stamford Bridge academy prospect has represented both England and the United States and stood out at left-back in three of Chelsea’s pre-season games under Xabi Alonso. McGowan has a track record going back over 20 years of being very accurate with Celtic news and transfers. Emenalo arrives as a very different option to Saracchi who has joined Houston Dynamo in the MLS. The 18-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance with all of his experience to date being in Academy football. Tierney has been in top form in Celtic’s two SPFL matches and is clearly a first pick. With his continued involvement in international football Celtic require cover for the former Arsenal defender. Integrating Emenalo into the side will be the priority with Liam Scales also on call to play at left-back if required. Earlier today Celtic announced the signing of Haissem Hassan on a four year contract from Real Oviedo. The initial Champions League deadline in 11pm on August 13. Two changes can be made by 11pm on August 18 before the first leg tie against LASK. CLICK HERE for Emenalo Transfermarkt profile.
