Yang Min-hyeok has joined Belgian club KVC Westerlo on a season-long loan.
Tottenham Hotspur’s plans of trimming the squad have continued this week.
Manor Solomon moved to Championship club West Ham in a £7m deal. Spurs have also been trying to find a temporary solution for Yang Min-hyeok. It recently emerged that Belgian Pro League club KVC Westerlo agreed a season-long loan for the 20-year-old winger. He had passed his medical ahead of the move to KVC Westerlo, pending an official announcement.

Tottenham have officially confirmed that Yang has completed a season-long loan move to Westerlo. It appears to be a dry loan with no purchase option or obligation.
Spurs and Westerlo have struck a cordial relationship in recent years. Yang is the third Tottenham player to join the Belgian club on loan. Before that, Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine, both of whom are no longer part of the North London club, spent temporary spells at Het Kuipje. They have proven to be a good club at developing young players, at least in Tottenham’s case, and our fans will hope the pattern continues with Yang.
The South Korean talent has had three separate loans since moving to England in 2024, all with Championship clubs. The winger, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham, was on loan with Portsmouth and Coventry City last season. So, the move to Westerlo marks the first adventure in European football, providing him with the chance to gain valuable regular minutes and establish himself as a key player in Issame Charaï’s side.
Yang can play in multiple attacking positions, which should benefit Charaï’s side. In addition to pace, agility, flair and unpredictability, he will provide the much-needed tactical flexibility to Westerlo. After spending the last three loan spells getting used to the pace and physicality of English football, the South Korean international will get to learn and understand the technical and tactical aspects of playing in the Belgium Pro League.
With first-team minutes at White Hart Lane tightly contested under Roberto De Zerbi’s evolving squad structure, Tottenham’s key decision-makers determined that a full campaign with Westerlo in the Belgian top-flight presented the best pathway for Yang’s technical, tactical and physical development. Hopefully, the youngster shines at his new club and returns to North London in 2027 with valuable experience.
