Andy Balbirnie's century and 84 from Curtis Campher were in vain for Ireland as Afghanistan won the fourth one-day international at Stormont by 42 runs to clinch the series 3-0. After Afghanistan set a target of 343 for nine, opener Balbirnie hit 12 boundaries, including three sixes, in making 109 before he was caught off Rashid Khan. Campher struck eight fours and five sixes, but Ireland were bowled out for 301 on the final ball of the 48th over, with Yamin Ahmadzai taking four for 71 and Khan three for 49. Ibrahim Zadran (107) and Sediqullah Atal (143) both made centuries for Afghanistan before being dismissed by Gavin Hoey, who finished with two for 71. Ireland’s Byron McDonough took three for 84, while Mark Adair claimed two for 60. Afghanistan had won the previous two matches after the opening ODI was abandoned due to wet weather. The tourists will look to complete a 4-0 series victory when the teams meet again on Saturday.
