With a statement on their official website, Russian First League club Torpedo Moscow have announced the signing of Nigerian winger Jonathan Okoronkwo from Turkish side Sivasspor.
Okoronkwo has returned to Russian football, two years after leaving Krasnodar.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Torpedo Moscow, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2028-29 season.
The most prominent Nigerian to have represented Torpedo Moscow is former Super Eagles captain Augustine Eguavoen, who played for the capital club during the 1997-98 campaign.
Okoronkwo should have no issues adapting to life at Torpedo Moscow, as he is now teammates with Nigerian winger Usman Ajibona, who joined the club on loan from Alashkert FC this summer.
The new signing will work again with manager Aleksandr Storozhuk, who previously coached him at Krasnodar-2, Krasnodar and Arsenal Tula.
A product of Nigerian clubs Diamond Star and Hope of Glory, Okoronkwo scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 32 matches to finish as the top scorer in the 2023-24 FNL season.
For the 2026-27 campaign, he has been allocated the number 20 shirt at Torpedo Moscow.
