Fantasy football expert says ‘no wrong answer’ between two players for first overall draft pick Fantasy football analyst Frank Ammirante says just two players should be considered for the first overall pick in fantasy this year and there is "no wrong answer" Just two players should be considered for the first overall draft pick in fantasy football this year, says one expert. Different players rise to the top of fantasy football draft boards before the start of every NFL season depending on a variety of factors, including their team’s outlook, coaching changes, player trades, and injury patterns. This year, fantasy football analyst Frank Ammirante considers just two names as worthy of being picked first overall: Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson and Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs. So what makes Robinson and Gibbs the clear-cut top choices? Outside of being 24 years old and in the prime of their careers, both backs are expected to be the focal point of their team’s offenses after sharing the load with others for much of the past few seasons. Robinson’s former backfield mate Tyler Allgeier left Atlanta in free agency and joined the Arizona Cardinals, while Gibbs’ partner in crime David Montgomery is now on the Houston Texans. “Gibbs could see a huge workload,” Ammirante told Mirror U.S. Sports. “I know the Lions brought in Isiah Pacheco but that’s a huge downgrade from Montgomery. I don’t see Pacheco as much of a threat.” “We’ve already seen (Lions head coach) Dan Campbell come out in public saying they really want to feed Jahmyr Gibbs. He hasn’t scratched the surface of what he can do.” Gibbs has finished 10th, first, and third among running backs in fantasy football scoring in each of his three NFL seasons so far, so his upside is not in question. His 1.6 ADP on ESPN Fantasy is the lowest of any player in the NFL and reflects how the fantasy community feels about him. Robinson, however, is Ammirante’s preferred choice. Even though the Falcons aren’t the offensive juggernaut Detroit has proven to be over the last few seasons, Robinson’s do-it-all skillset paired with how Atlanta could operate this year make him a surefire home run pick in fantasy. “I lean toward Bijan because he’s got a bigger frame that feels more suited for that type of running back who sees that absurd workload, like a Christian McCaffrey, near 400 touches,” said Ammirante. “Gibbs looks a little smaller, I don’t know if he can hold up that kind of wear and tear where I feel more secure that Bijan can.” Robinson currently owns the second-lowest ADP on ESPN Fantasy at 2.6. Last season, he was the second highest scoring RB in all of fantasy, coming in behind only Christian McCaffrey. “The Falcons are probably going to start Tua Tagovailoa to start the year at least and he loves to check it down, we saw that with De’Von Achane with the Dolphins and I think he could really be checking it down to Bijan, who’s a great receiver out of the backfield.” After touting Robinson, Ammirante added: “There’s no wrong answer.”
