Derby County’s long-serving left-back had been sidelined across the last two seasons with injury and has called time on her career, most of which was spent playing for Derby. Tinsley had rejoined the Ewes seven years ago after previously having a spell with the club as a youngster. The left-back began her career as a youngster at Handley Wood JFC and also had spells in Derby and Sheffield United’s Academy set-ups. She enjoyed senior football at Sheffield FC and Sheffield United Women before returning to Derby, initially on loan, in the 2019/20 campaign. Tinsley was forced to miss the entire 2022/23 season after she decided to follow medical advice and have an implantable loop recorder placed in her chest to monitor her heart rhythm and rate. A return to playing in 2023/24 saw the left-back return to her best to play a vital role in Derby’s run to the FA WNL Plate Final, where they won the silverware. Tinsley scored in the second round of the competition with a long-range strike in a 5-2 win over Northampton Town. Her return to playing was cruelly cut short as Tinsley suffered a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in January 2024’s league fixture against Liverpool Feds, which was subsequently abandoned, and that switch to the sidelines spelt the end of her Derby career. Off the pitch, she was an integral part of Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Every Minute Matters’ campaign to inspire the nation to learn lifesaving CPR, which was launched in May 2024. Tinsley made 75 appearances and scored seven in black and white for Derby.
