Hull City are set to sign French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath on a permanent deal from Red Bull Salzburg, with the youngster set to undergo a medical ahead of signing for the Premier League club. The 23-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract in a deal worth just north of £3m for a player who ended last season on loan with Le Harve, where he played 15 times in Ligue 1. A defensive midfielder, Gourna-Douath was an academy graduate of Saint-Etienne, moving to Austria at the age of 18, where he penned a five-year deal and, in the process, became the most expensive signing in Austrian football history with RB paying around 15m euros. Despite being a regular for Salzburg to help them win a 17th league title, he struggled for game time and eventually moved on loan to Serie A giants Roma, where he made just six appearances. Across his career so far, Gourna-Douath has played 76 times in Ligue 1 and 64 times in the Austrian Bundesliga, but looks to be on his way to East Yorkshire to provide valuable midfield options for Sergej Jakirovic. Gourna-Douath's arrival could be followed by Everton ace Tim Iroegbunam, with City remaining in talks with their Premier League rivals over a move for the 23-year-old midfielder. City, however, are understood to have moved on from Kevin Danois, at this stage of the transfer window, with Gourna-Douath close to sealing his move, and talks progressing with the Toffees over a deal to bring in Iroegbunam, they feel their options are growing, considering Hidemasa Morita is set to return from injury. The Tigers believe as many as five new arrivals could be completed before Saturday's home meeting with Nice in their final friendly of pre-season. Lucas Herrington and Nobel Mendy are two of those, with Joe Gelhardt likely to be the third. With Gourna-Douath coming in, that takes the total to four, and there could yet be more movement at the MKM Stadium.
