Manchester United have today confirmed that Senne Lammens will take the no.1 shirt from next season, following Altay Bayindir’s loan move to Celta Vigo. The Turkish goalkeeper occupied the shirt previously after Andre Onana, the first choice goalkeeper of the time picked the no.24 shirt because of his birthday and it being the number he had always worn. Lammens follows in the footsteps of Peter Schmeichel, Mark Bosnich, Fabien Barthez, Tim Howard, Edwin van der Sar and David De Gea who have also worn the shirt in the Premier League era. Our no.1 had been due back at Carrington last Monday but decided to cut his holiday short and return on the Thursday. He could make his first appearance of the pre-season this evening as United take on Leeds at Croke Park. The game is available to watch on ITV1 from 7.30pm.
