Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet has shared an injury update that has confirmed a season-ending injury for young full-back Noah Hodkinson.
The 20-year-old has been no stranger to injuries this season, even fracturing his skull earlier in the year with that injury sidelining him for around a month, however, his breakout campaign now looks as though it has come to an end.
Hodkinson was thrust in at full-back in the club’s Challenge Cup clash against Bradford Bulls back in March on account of the injury to first-choice starter Jai Field.
He’d go on to start three games at that position before dropping to the bench on Field’s return but he’s further impressed on the wing in recent weeks as a replacement for Liam Marshall.
In his first game as a winger, Hodkinson scored a hat-trick and his season tally for tries stands at an impressive 15 in 15 games, though he unfortunately will not add to that tally.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Matt Peet confirmed: “Noah had a scan out of the game on his quad, feel like he’ll miss the rest of the season
“It was unfortunate, he pulled up tight and didn’t think much of it, but the scans showed quite a serious injury to his quad.”
It’s an abrupt and sad end to what has been a brilliant season for the youngster but he won’t be the only Wigan Warriors player to miss out on Saturday against Bradford Bulls as Wigan saw hooker Brad O’Neill and second-row forward Sam Walters suspended at the latest disciplinary verdict.
