Chelsea trying to ‘snatch’ Man Utd transfer target after £24m clause expires
Chelsea are interested in a deal for Jhon Lucumi after selling Trevoh Chalobah but several clubs, including Manchester United, have been linked
Chelsea appear to have joined the race for Manchester United transfer target Jhon Lucumi. After impressing at the World Cup with Colombia, the Bologna centre-back has emerged of interest to numerous Premier League clubs, along with Juventus and Inter Milan, with the Blues taking an interest after agreeing to sell Trevoh Chalobah.
Como are set to take on his services with the Serie A side previously linked to Lucumi while Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are other clubs that he turned down. That is because, according to Quotidiano Sportivo, the 28-year-old only wants to join a 'big club'.
Their report has stated that Chelsea are looking to 'snatch' Lucumi from under United's noses after they made a move for the defender.
A £24m release clause in his Bologna contract reportedly expired last month, though Bologna have set their asking price at €25million (£21.4m) plus €3million (£2.6m) in add-ons.

Juve and Forest have made offers to Bologna but both proposals were rejected with the former not reaching their asking price. The offer from Oliver Glasner's side was much closer to meeting to the funds Bologna but he opted against the move.
Chelsea's Benoit Badiashile has since emerged as a target for the Old Lady with Napoli also exploring a move for the Frenchman. Axel Disasi is another potentially on the way out of Stamford Bridge with former loan club West Ham United and Crystal Palace interested.
The latter sold Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea last month but a second defensive addition could be on the cards following Chalobah's exit.
Lucumi started all five of Colombia's games at the World Cup, during which they conceded just one goal, following a campaign in which he made 43 appearances across all competitions last season.
Xabi Alonso is also looking at signing a new left-back with Rayo Vallecano's Pep Chavarria as their top target after selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid before the World Cup.
Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson were announced as new signings last week which has seen them join Morgan Rogers and Marco Palestra as additions for the upcoming season.
Exits are also expected to take place with Nicolas Jackson attracting interest from Aston Villa but football.london understands that Tottenham are not expected to make a move.
