Tennent's Sixes returns after 33 years as Hearts and Hibs among participants of iconic nostalgia event Cult indoor event of the 80s and 90s set for return Hearts and Hibs are among the 12 Scottish Premiership clubs to sign up for a legends version of the iconic Tennent’s Sixes tournament later this year. Backed by the SPFL, the revived event will take place at Braehead Arena on the weekend of 3 and 4 October, with all the action broadcast live on Premier Sports. The tournament was a staple Scottish Football event throughout the 80s and 90s, where the best teams in the country would face off in a small-sided tournament. Now returning with a legends twist, the revamped Tennent’s Sixes allows for fans of all ages to watch their recent club heroes in action. Hearts have lifted the trophy twice in 1985 and 1991, while Hibs prevailed in 1990. Partick Thistle are the current holders having won the last event in 1993, but won’t be able to defend their crown given their current Championship status. What is the format of the Tennent’s Sixes event? Saturday group stages will start with three regionalised groups of four, with each group winner and runner-up progressing to the knockout stages, along with the two best third-placed teams. To add a bit of excitement, every game will have a winner with a bonus point for a penalty shootout win in the event of a draw. Competitors will have to be on their best behaviour at the Braehead Arena, as the sin bin will also be making a comeback. Hearts and Hibs will kick-off with an Edinburgh Derby on the afternoon session of the opening day, before facing Motherwell and Falkirk who are also in their group. Other notable games include Rangers vs Celtic in the second session and Dundee vs Dundee United in the third session. What have the organiser’s said about the return of Tennent’s Sixes?
